When you live in a vacation spot, it is a little harder to find a destination to escape to for the weekend that distances you from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Fear not, Southern residents, Houston to Jacksonville, Chicago Southwards, or anyone who else feels trapped by their “touristic” hometowns. There are places close by that fulfill your needs for a getaway vacation. Located along the Emerald Coast of Northwest Florida, Seagrove Beach and all of its tiny brethren beaches are wonderful destination spots that provide the seclusion you seek, yet also has plenty to further intensify your experience. Just for clarity, or lack thereof, Seagrove Beach is a roughly two-mile beach in Walton County, Florida. It’s east of Seaside, west of WaterSound, and simply fun and wonderful.

Places to Stay
Among Seagrove’s lush canopy of oaks and magnolias are a multitude of eclectic beach homes and cottages, each with its own unique personality. Places like these are great for group vacations or if you are traveling with family.
If you want more of a hotel experience with amenities included and cleaning services provided, your travel advisor is your best guide. They have access to insider programs you won’t discover on your own, and that will provide you with a host of options from budget to luxury.
Things To Do
Seagrove is located in between Panama City Beach and Destin, so finding things to do is not difficult. But, if you would rather stay and enjoy something along this small section of Hwy 30A, there are many activities that meet the needs of you and your loved ones.
Located in nearby Santa Rosa Beach is a bike shop called 30A Bike Rentals. If you feel like exploring Seagrove, or one the neighboring beaches, taking a bike ride along 30A is the best way to do it. If you get the chance, take your bike through Watercolor Beach and try out one of the original food trucks parked right in the middle of the town square. Always make sure you purchase a snow cone from Frostees; they are the best on a hot summer day! Not in the mood for food? You can also park your bike at one of the stands and walk around to one of the many upscale boutiques. Déjà vu is my favorite!
If you would rather stick to water activities, along the pristine white beaches are lifeguard stands where you can rent jet skis or paddleboards or reserve a time to parasail or ride the banana boat. Whether you are staying in a hotel or a beach condo, information is usually provided in the form of flyers that will assist you in finding many activities to do during your stay.
Places to Eat
A great part of any vacation: the food. I usually give great reviews on a destination spot based solely on the cuisine and restaurants located in that particular town, and Seagrove Beach is no exception. You will not find chains and franchises here. This town is known for its unique and one-of-a-kind wine and dines. One of the most well-known and appreciated spots is the Seagrove Village MarketCafé. This place has been serving up the best-fried shrimp and oysters since 1949 and is perfect for anyone seeking the taste of fried up, fresh Gulf seafood. The café also serves as a mini market, where you can pick up all of your Seagrove Beach souvenirs.
Another great place, if you prefer a little more of fun and upscale atmosphere, is 723 Whiskey Bravo. One of my favorite places to visit while I am in Seagrove, Whiskey Bravo is a two-story bar and restaurant with amazing views of the Gulf and great food, while also an ideal venue for sports fans wanting to watch the big game. This place has everything.
Whether you are in the mood for great food or a great atmosphere, Seagrove can meet all of your needs when it comes to dining.
Seagrove Beach encompasses all of what it means to be a true, great escape. Its location is close to more prominent vacation spots, yet also far enough away to feel like you are separated from your daily life. Your mind will be at ease knowing you can enjoy a relaxing vacation close to home.
